Who Do You Know?

Who Do You Know?

When this beautiful couple first reached out to us, they were exhausted.

They were relocating from Canada to the U.S. with their young child, ready to start a new chapter for their family. They had been working with another agent for months, touring home after home, but somehow, instead of getting closer to finding the right one, they felt like they were getting further away.

They had a list of things they wanted, but they weren’t sure how to prioritize them. What mattered more, the location or the house? The commute or the space? What should they compromise on, and what would they regret giving up? The more homes they toured, the more confused they became.

At some point, they started to wonder if they were being too picky and if the home they truly wanted even exists.

Then one of our past clients connected me. I still remember our first phone call. We hadn’t even had our strategy session yet, but instead of talking about bedrooms, bathrooms, and square footage, I started asking questions about their life. Where did they work? What did they want their everyday life to look like? What had they liked about the homes they had seen? What hadn’t felt right? What were they willing to compromise on, and what actually mattered most to their family? And just through that conversation, things started becoming clearer. When we sat down for our strategy session, we went even deeper. Based on everything they had shared, I was able to explain why so many of the homes they had previously toured probably hadn’t felt right.

It wasn’t that they couldn’t find the right home, it was that they had been looking for the wrong kind of home. Once we figured that out, everything changed. We got to work immediately, and after touring only a handful of properties together, it became pretty clear that new construction was the right fit for them. Then we walked into a beautiful new construction home in Bellevue. It had what they were looking for, it fit the lifestyle they had described to me, and maybe one of the best parts, it was only about ten minutes from both of their workplaces. After months of searching and feeling like they were getting nowhere, they were under contract just 10 days after our first meeting.

But getting under contract was only half the story. Unexpected complications came up in their financing during the transaction that none of us could have predicted. We needed one closing extension. Then another. And eventually, a third. At that point, our job wasn’t about finding them a home anymore. It was about making sure we could get them to the finish line without putting their earnest money at risk. We stayed involved in every detail, communicated closely with everyone involved, and used our relationships and negotiation experience to secure all three extensions while protecting our clients along the way. And eventually, they got their keys.

Throughout those final weeks, they said something to me and my team more than once: they genuinely didn’t think they would have made it to closing if they hadn’t had our support. That meant a lot to me. Because when I think about this family, I don’t think the best part of their story is that we found them a home in 10 days. I think about the difference between the people we met at the beginning and the people we handed the keys to at the end. They came to us feeling exhausted, unheard, and unsure whether they would ever find what they were looking for. They left feeling confident in their decision, supported through the process, and excited about the new life they were building for their family.

Sometimes, when someone has been searching for months, they don’t need to see more homes. They don’t necessarily need to lower their expectations or make more compromises. Sometimes, they just need someone to really listen, ask the right questions, and help them find clarity.

So, who do you know who might be feeling the way this family felt when we first met them? Maybe they’ve been searching for a while and nothing feels right. Maybe they’re relocating and overwhelmed by where to begin. Or maybe they’re working with someone but still don’t feel heard or confident in the process. If someone came to mind while reading this, I’d love an introduction. They don’t have to be ready to make a move tomorrow. Sometimes, one conversation is all it takes to change the direction of the entire journey!
