It’s hard to believe the FIFA World Cup is already coming to an end. What began as years of anticipation has turned into one of the most exciting summers Seattle has ever experienced. We've watched our city welcome fans from around the world, celebrate different cultures, and come together through a shared love of the beautiful game. Hosting the World Cup has been truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We were incredibly fortunate to have Seattle selected as one of the host cities, giving our community the chance to be part of a global event that united millions of people across countries, languages, and cultures.
Even though the matches at Lumen Field have wrapped up, the celebration isn't over just yet. The World Cup Final takes place on Sunday, July 19, and Seattle Center is hosting one last free World Soccer Fan Celebration where fans can gather to watch the championship match together. The festivities include large public viewing screens, live entertainment, music, food and drinks, family-friendly activities, and the incredible atmosphere that has made Seattle's fan celebrations so memorable throughout the tournament.
One of my favorite parts of this amazing experience hasn't just been the soccer, it's been watching Seattle come alive. Streets filled with fans wearing jerseys from every corner of the world, restaurants packed with people cheering together, and neighborhoods buzzing with excitement created an energy that's difficult to put into words. It reminded us just how special this city is and how welcoming our community can be.
