There are plenty of places around Seattle to grab a good pizza, but Mioposto has built something that feels like much more than your neighborhood pizza spot.
The story started in 2006, when the family-owned restaurant opened its original location in Seattle’s Mount Baker neighborhood. The flagship still operates out of a charming historic brick building near Mount Baker Park and Lake Washington, but over the years, Mioposto has grown right alongside the communities it serves. Today, you'll find five locations throughout the area in Mount Baker, Ravenna, Admiral, Eastlake, and Mercer Island.
Despite that growth, each location still has that cozy neighborhood feeling. Mioposto focuses on open-flame cooking, with handcrafted pizzas at the center of the menu alongside Italian-inspired small plates, salads, their signature ribeye, craft cocktails, and a wine list that includes both imported bottles and favorites from right here in Washington. You can stop in for brunch, meet friends for happy hour, bring the family for dinner, or settle in for a date night over pizza and wine.
But what really caught my attention about Mioposto has less to do with what's coming out of the oven and more to do with what they're putting back into the community. Giving back is actually built into the restaurant through its Pizza & Philanthropy program. Mioposto has hosted dine-out events where a portion of sales is donated directly to local nonprofits, schools, food banks, neighborhood organizations, and other community causes. Past partners have included Rainier Valley Food Bank, University District Food Bank, North Helpline, Seattle Works, New Beginnings, Skate Like a Girl, local schools, youth sports programs, and neighborhood associations. For many of these events, Mioposto has donated 20% of sales from the evening to the participating organization. Their goal is to create spaces where you can sit back, feel seen, safe, and accepted exactly as you are.
I love seeing a local business grow without losing sight of the neighborhoods that helped it get there. Nearly 20 years after opening that first Mount Baker restaurant, Mioposto has expanded across Seattle and onto the Eastside, but community is still very clearly part of its identity. So next time you're craving pizza, this might be a good excuse to try somewhere that serves up a little more than dinner.
