Art Blooms at Bellevue Botanical Garden

Some of the best events of the summer happen when nature and creativity come together, and that's exactly what you'll find at Arts in the Garden at Bellevue Botanical Garden.

Held August 28–30, this annual event transforms the garden into an open-air gallery where more than 25 talented artists showcase beautiful handcrafted pieces surrounded by colorful flowerbeds, peaceful woodlands, and one of Bellevue's most scenic settings. It's a completely different experience than a traditional art show, allowing you to browse unique artwork while enjoying the beauty of the gardens themselves.

What makes this event different from others is how relaxing it feels. Instead of rushing from booth to booth, you're encouraged to slow down, wander the garden paths, meet the artists, and appreciate the craftsmanship behind every piece. From sculptures and garden décor to ceramics, jewelry, and other handmade works, you'll find plenty of inspiration. And maybe even the perfect addition to your own home or garden!

Bellevue Botanical Garden is much more than a beautiful place to take a walk. Spanning 53 acres, the garden is home to cultivated landscapes, restored woodlands, wetlands, and more than 3,000 varieties of Pacific Northwest plants. Since opening in 1992, it has become one of Bellevue's most beloved public spaces, welcoming more than 400,000 visitors each year. Best of all, admission is free, making it a place everyone can enjoy.

The Bellevue Botanical Garden Society, a local nonprofit, partners with the City of Bellevue to make all of this possible. Beyond maintaining the gardens, they provide educational programs for children and adults, host community events like Arts in the Garden and the beloved Garden d'Lights, and rely on volunteers and community support to keep the garden thriving for future generations.

During Arts in the Garden, you'll also enjoy live music, local food trucks, and the opportunity to meet the artists behind the work. From ceramics and jewelry to paintings, sculptures, and garden décor, every booth offers something unique while supporting talented local creators. It's the perfect excuse to slow down, wander the garden paths, and spend an afternoon outdoors.

One of my favorite things about Bellevue Botanical Garden is that it feels like a peaceful escape without ever leaving the city. Whether you're visiting for Arts in the Garden, attending one of their educational programs, or simply taking a quiet walk through the grounds, it's a place that reminds you how important our public spaces are. Events like this not only celebrate local artists but also help strengthen the sense of community that makes Bellevue such a wonderful place to call home.
