Central Peak Residences is bringing a boutique collection of new condominiums to one of the Eastside’s most walkable neighborhoods.
If you’ve spent much time in Downtown Kirkland, you already know what makes it so special. There aren’t many places on the Eastside where you can walk to your morning coffee, wander down to the waterfront, meet friends for dinner, browse local shops, and end the evening watching the sunset over Lake Washington. Now, a new residential project is taking shape right in the middle of it all.
Central Peak Residences is currently under construction at the corner of Central Way and Lake Street, on the former U.S. Bank property. Rather than another large residential tower, the development is intentionally boutique, with just 26 single-level condominium homes. Construction recently reached a major milestone with the completion of the concrete structure and the beginning of wood framing, making the project increasingly visible as you pass through downtown.
The location is really the story here. Marina Park and the Lake Washington waterfront are just steps away, while Downtown Kirkland’s restaurants, cafés, boutiques, galleries, and everyday conveniences are right outside your door. It offers a version of Eastside living where your neighborhood becomes an extension of your home and getting in the car isn’t necessary for every little thing. The residences themselves will range from approximately 1,150 to 2,415 square feet, with one, two, and three bedroom options. Floor-to-ceiling windows, expansive balconies and terraces, natural finishes, warm wood accents, gourmet kitchens, and spa-inspired bathrooms are all designed around a contemporary Pacific Northwest aesthetic.
Downstairs, the project will add approximately 4,000 square feet of street-level retail, including plans for a neighborhood café. Residents will also have access to a lounge, secure bike storage, dedicated below-grade parking, and a private rooftop terrace, a pretty incredible place to imagine spending a summer evening in Kirkland.
What I find particularly interesting about Central Peak is its size. Bellevue has seen a wave of large luxury condominium towers in recent years, but Central Peak is taking a very different approach. With only 26 homes, it feels more intimate and residential while still offering the walkable urban lifestyle that has become increasingly difficult to find in new construction on the Eastside. It’s also another example of how Downtown Kirkland continues to evolve without losing the lifestyle that made people fall in love with it in the first place. New homes and businesses are being added, but the lake, parks, neighborhood restaurants, and walkability remain at the center of the experience.
For anyone who loves Kirkland but has been waiting for a newer, lower-maintenance option in the middle of downtown, Central Peak is definitely a project worth watching as it continues to rise.
